Session
To Abstract or Not to Abstract the Storage Layer
Session Chair
DescriptionWhile several studies seek to transparently optimize the storage devices by keeping a strong abstraction thus relieving application designers, others tend to give more control to take full advantage of the high performance promised by flash memory technology, thus breaking the traditional abstraction layer at the cost of more complexity. This session explores novel designs on both sides of abstraction level for novel technologies such as zoned namespace devices, computational storage, and Shingled magnetic recording.
